Tellico Plains is located
at the foothills of the 630,000 acre Cherokee National
Forest. Its southern entrance is also the beginning point
of the Cherohala Skyway. The Cherohala Skyway is 40 plus
miles of scenic by way that traverses the Cherokee and
Nantahala mountain ranges. The Skyway ends in Robbinsville,
North Carolina with a continuum to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Because of Tellico’s proximity, you can easily access
the great outdoors. Hikes to spectacular hidden waterfalls
like Fall Branch Falls, mountain biking at Indian Boundary
or riding the rush of white waters at the Ocoee River
Center are just a short distance away. Tellico is in "the
heart of the most magnificent natural preserves southeast
Tennessee has to offer, without the hustle and bustle".
Tellico Plains was once known as the Great Talequah. It
was also home to the Cherokee Indians. Today, Tellico
(Cherokee for plains), is a quaint little town, population
about 1000. Its charm exudes the real life of everyday
people and experiences. And, everyone has a story. Our
Grains & Bakery downtown is the hub of all that is home-made,
sweet and good. (not to mention, the best deli sandwiches
and weekend gourmet pizzas) Tellico is also a place where
old and new meet at the Beach, order a slaw dog, skip
stones, and watch the youngins swing through the air from
a tree rope into the river. It’s where early risers
are found fly fishing and early evenings are found gathering
on the front porch. About
Us
"There's something special about these Mountains"
is a phrase we always heard growing up. As most things
we hear as a child, adulthood brings us a new understanding,
It brings a new meaning for what we casually brushed off,
like the red soil on our hand me down shoes. Our family
is deeply rooted in this area. We can trace part of out
heritage to the original Cherokee Indians who found refuge
in the mountains and to early Scottish and Irish immigrants
in the late 1700's that migrated by foot and wagon. Strong
and rugged they trekked through North Carolina and the
Santeetlah Mountains, finally settling at The Stewart
Cabin.
Throughout the many generations the mountains, land
and our families have been a corner stone in our lives.
There are many reasons why our family has remained here
and why those that have moved away return year after
year. It could be the grandeur of the mountains that
provide recluse. It could be the unspoiled beauty of
the land that meets boundlessly with the open sky. More
likely, it is the strength, resilience and history of
these mountains, like our kinfolk that brings us back
and keep us grounded.
Telliquah Falls Log Cabins invites you to share in
the experience, make lasting memories and discover,"something
special about these Mountains."
Memories from our Guests
We are so happy to have found your beautiful "lost valley"...it
is exactly what we were looking for. The beauty, peacefulness
and tranquility, the melodies played by the creek, the
views surrounding the valley and hills have all becomes
part of us and our memories. We began as "Goonies" and
now would be honored to be considered "friends" who will
visit often to enrich our hearts and souls with the abounding
beauty of this very special place... Jim

I have been fortunate enough to have traveled several
different places in my life, but I feel I arrived at
southern paradise last night. Only in the south do you
find all this charm and hospitality. The clean and cozy
cabin, the warmth of the flaming fire, the ole' fashion
treat of tea and cookies all surrounded by a glorious
landscape of God's goodness...I only regret two things
1-That you only have one night available and 2-That
my children are not here. It's okay because I will have
the pleasure of looking forward to the time when I can
share this shining treasure with the once I love.
Now pray the fish are biting!

Today was the first day in five that
I asked about the date; I guess that;s the first sign
that we lost track of time up here...I can't even explain
the feeling I had when I walked in this cabin for the
first time, SO BEAUTIFUL! And the little touches found
everywhere(my favorite being the flashlights next to
the beds ),
the books, the phone card & the salts next to the bathtub.
Unbelievable. I never one thought about the time.
And that was the best gift of all. Leaving the hustle
& "to do" list behind for a week was surely a blessing...
We will always remember this and plan to be back next
year!

OUR FAMILIES HAD A VERY RELAXING TIME. ALL THE MEN
WENT FLY FISHING. US WOMEN JUST RELAXED IN THE HOT
TUB AND WALKED SOME OF THE NEARBY TRAILS. WE ALL
PLAYED GAMES AND MADE WONDERFUL MEMORIES TO LAST
A LIFE TIME.

Our honeymoon has been enhanced by this
cabin.
In short, we hit the jackpot, by meeting each other,
becoming Husband and Wife and culminating the
Marriage in this wonderful cabin. The level of
graciousness, attentiveness and quality of service
exceeded our expectations. We cannot wait to
return.
